Welcome to As Fresh As A Daisy
I am super excited about writing a lifestyle blog and that is for one simple reason: to share my top 3 lifestyle choices for optimising health and well-being and they are:-
- Eating healthy foods to nourish your body and mind
- Being active and incorporating exercise into your daily life to improve fitness and well-being
- Being mindful of your thoughts and understand how they can directly affect every aspect of your life
A few weeks ago, I began to ponder over names for my site but Caroline Phillipson’s blog just didn’t cut it!
I needed a sparkly, memorable title that would encapsulate my ethos. From that came As Fresh As A Daisy.
I googled those 5 happy words and to my delight the meaning behind this idiom was ‘Be Healthy And Full Of Energy’. I couldn’t have written it better myself!
So without further ado.
My Food Philosophy is about learning how to eat fewer processed foods. It is about enjoying, fresh, simple, whole, natural, nourishing ingredients that contribute to a healthy and functional life.
It is about adding as much variety and colour as possible across a wide range of food groups and making it taste and look delicious.
My Fitness Philosophy is about making exercise a regular part of your life. It is about being consistent in your approach to fitness and regularly refreshing your workout in order to remain challenged and avoid a fitness plateau.
It is about combining Cardiovascular, Strength, Flexibility and Balance training to achieve best results.
My Happiness Philosophy is about learning to adopt a positive mental attitude. It is about being the awareness behind your thoughts and how they affect your every day life.
I must admit, this is probably THE most challenging part for me. To some this comes naturally, while to others (including myself), it will always be work in progress.
As Fresh As A Daisy website
I will be sharing my favourite healthy recipes and discovering lots of new ones along the way. The As Fresh As A Daisy approach is not about losing weight, it’s about eating consistently well and adopting a healthy lifestyle, for life.
I will be sharing exercise and fitness tips in the hope that I can inspire and spread a little motivation and encouragement to those that would like it.
I’ll also share quotes in relation to positive thinking and mindfulness and blog about how their application in every day life can contribute to a happier, more contented self.
Who is this blog aimed at?
Anyone who would like to improve their overall health, fitness and well-being. If however, you are in your 40s you may relate a little more.
I’m 43 and I know first hand how staying fit and healthy in your 40’s, can be way more difficult than in your 20’s and 30’s, especially when time, family and other commitments are your number one priority.
If this sounds familiar then this blog will make perfect reading for you.
So, why now?
The time is right, my kids are at school and I want to do something for me. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes I wonder if people will actually be interested in what I have to say. I mean…
Disclaimer:- I am not a qualified nutritionist or dietician nor do I have fitness qualifications. But instead of focusing on what I don’t have, I’d rather focus on what I do have which is oodles of passion and enthusiasm for all things healthy.
I read this on-line recently and it summarised where I am starting with this blog. I don’t have a team of people who work alongside me, no photographers, videographers and producers, it’s just me, your average mother of 2 doing the school run and other motherly duties.
I am confident however, that my zest and interest in all things healthy will drive and fuel this blog.
Finally, everyone has a reason why they do what they do. I will share my story to leading a healthier lifestyle over the next few weeks. It’s certainly not pretty in places but my aim for this blog is for it to be a real, honest and open account.
I really hope my introduction has whet your appetite.
I know it’s early days but if there are any related topics you’d like me to blog then please do let me know in the comments below.
Keep smiling x
